World Congress on Gynecology Obstetrics 2020
World Congress on Gynecology Obstetrics has been planned to invent a multidisciplinary approach with a legion of tracks to designate from each division, which brings you an extraordinary convenience to reach the peers from both academia and industry and also to inaugurate a scientific network with them. Our Clinical Director, Dr. Ioannis Giakoumakis, has been asked to present as an honorary speaker about surrogacy in Greece.
In the last three and a half decades, an increasing number of assisted reproductive technologies (ARTs) have been developed, some of them already being used in clinical practice, while others will probably remain purely theoretical due to their associated ethical issues. Surrogacy refers to a contract in which a woman carries a pregnancy "for" another couple. At the Mediterranean Fertility Institute (MFI) we started the Surrogate Motherhood Program (SMP) in 2004.
Dr. Giakoumakis will give the presentation titled: “Surrogacy: Legal, ethical and Medical Aspects” attempting to explain the parameters that define a successful surrogacy motherhood program. The content of the presentation will include his more than 30-year experience in IVF and surrogacy programs in Greece. Dr. Giakoumakis shall discuss in detail the three parts compromising of the program including the IVF part, the legal steps before and after birth and of course the psychological phases that can occur during the program.
19th World Congress of Gynecological Endocrinology
In our aim to be in the forefront of scientific progress, the doctors of the Mediterranean Institute of Fertility have been selected by the World Congress of Gynecological Endocrinology to contribute to the advance of medical knowledge. In particular, we will be presenting the latest data on the legal, ethical and clinical approach of the surrogate motherhood program in Greece. The data that will be presented has been selected from decades of experience in the surrogacy program. See you in Florence!
